Our Winemaker Bootcamp is happening this fall!

Our hands-on program covers the art of making, evaluating, and science of winemaking. Whether you are just starting out or have a few years under your belt, our Winemakers Bootcamp will enrich your winemaking skills while having a lot of fun along the way. Winemaker Studies

The only hands-on winemaking bootcamp in the area. Musto Wine Grape Company is pleased to announce the start of a five week class for winemakers in the art and science of making wines. This course offers each student the opportunity of experiencing hands-on winemaking and producing their own five gallons of wine by the end of the semester. In addition to actually making wines, the course will cover the science behind modern wine making and fermentation techniques including additives commonly used by commercial wineries throughout the wine making world. Classes will be about 3 hours each Saturday, starting at 9:00 am or 12:00PM (depending on the session you pick), in the offices and winemaking showrooms of Musto Winegrape Co, 101 Reserve Road, Hartford, CT, 06114.

Frank Renaldi is the current course instructor at Musto Wine Grape Company, LLC

Any one who has the opportunity to meet Frank quickly realizes Frank's passion for wine making, which is only one of the many things that makes him an excellent instructor.

Frank Renaldi has been making wine for over 17 years and has served as a consultant to wineries.  Frank possesses a wide breadth of experience in winemaking from kits, to juice, fruits, grapes and even fortified wines.  He devotes a lot of time toward honing and expanding his winemaking skills and knowledge by attending conferences and seminars.  He is also member of the American Wine Society. 

We are currently accepting enrollment for this 5 week course with lecture and hands-on labs. The cost $150/student plus the cost of grapes for the 5 gallon batch.

1       Introduction to camp, equipment, supplies, sanitizing

2       Measuring and adjusting sugar, PH, acid

3       Red wine making – step by step

3-4    Nutrients – goferm, dap, Fermaid O, Fermaid K

4       White wine making – step by step

5       Yeast – selection, rehydration

5       Malo – co-inoculation, sequential, post inoculation, measuring

* Students must register and pay prior to attending a class. If Musto Wine Grape, Co. should need to reschedule a class, the student will be notified via the contact information that is on file at Musto Wine Grape and will be given the option of obtaining a refund or credit toward another class date.
