Variety:  Petit Verdot

Before Petite Verdot was the given the recognition it deserved it was used as a minor addition to the great Bordeaux’s of France. Now it is a “rising star” in California, Oregon, and New World wine regions.

Characteristics*:  The wines are a deep, dark, rich, purple in color. They have strong yet balanced tannins. Petite Verdot wines are incredibly complex when standing alone, making for a great and different wine with a smooth mouth feel.
Aromas/Flavors*:  Petite Verdot exudes an exotic spicy aroma with floral notes on the palate. It an be considered earthy, rustic, and warm.
Food Pairing:  This wine will pair well with cheese plates and hearty meals.
Aging**:  Ages very well.
