Variety:  Carmenere

Varietal Notes:

No grape is “Chile” quite like Carmenere. This relative of Bordeaux varietals was long mistaken as Merlot in Chile, but can be distinguished amongst other traits by is pinkish leaves. It is to Chile what Shiraz is to Australia.

Characteristics*:  This grape produces a relatively low tannin, velvety, but big berry-fruit wine that very drinkable and pairs well with a broad range of foods.
Aromas/Flavors*:  rich and exotic blackberry, plum, briar fruit, green herb, spice – offering to the taster a wonderful array of experience
Food Pairing:  Grilled meats, Lamb, and Game.
Aging**:  Opinions vary ,although there is suggestion that it could age well for several years.
