Varietal Information

 or...

Variety:  Trebbiano

Color:  White

Other names:

Varietal Notes:

The Trebbiano grape is Italy's most common white grape. This grape is often the foundation for Italy’s white wines and produces a somewhat “neutral tasting” wine that leans toward dry and crisp. This grape might very well serve as an excellent companion to other Italian whites like Malvasia Bianca that will help give the resulting wine an additional dimension.
Trebbiano

Characteristics*:  Produces drinkable, very neutral tasting light-bodied and crisp wines. It is considered more of a backbone for what would be considered classic Italian whites.
Aromas/Flavors*:  “Vinous” with very little discernable aroma or flavor
Food Pairing:  ideal for chicken, turkey, veal, pork, Pheasant, Shellfish and white fish
Aging**:  As a primary grape in the production of brandy and cognac, this grape has the propensity to age well.
Commercial
Examples***:

* Character, Aromas, and Flavors of wine produced from the above-mentioned grapes are based upon a general assessment of the variety. Winemaker results will vary.
** The ability to age is tied directly to the wine's chemical make-up. Aging in the context of a varietal assumes the wines produced can or tend to yield the correct chemical make-up. Winemaker results will vary.
*** Commercial Examples provided as varietal references for benchmarking. Winemaker results will vary.
